Myoelectric Prosthesis
The myoelectric prostheses are electric prosthesis controlled by a myoelectric external power.
What is myoelectric power?
When we contracting or flexing our mussels there are small electronic signals (EMG) are generated from mussels. Those electrical signals are called myoelectric power. Those small signals are very small(5–20uV) and generated by the chemical interaction that occurs in the mussels.
Contacting electrodes to the surface of the skin we can capture those EMG signals. Once EMG signals were captured we can amplify those signals and feed into the arm controller. Then arm controllers identify those signal patterns and move the relevant arm parts.
TOP Myoelectric Prosthesis manufactures
When it comes to Myoelectronic prosthesis manufacturers most popular company is Open Bionics (https://openbionics.com/) their Hero Arm is one of the most popular bionic arms in the world.
Since they 3d printed their arms, the patient can customize his/her arms as they wish. another cool thing is that their arms come at a very affordable price. but Currently, those arms are only available for USA, UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
